ABOUT ME
Hi, my name is Syahiran. I am a private tutor specialising in secondary-level Mathematics and Additional Mathematics, with an honours degree in Computer Science from NUS, School of Computing.
Having more than 7 years of experience in private tutoring, and 3 years in curriculum development, I aim to help students maximise their potential in Mathematics.
My background in Computer Science influences my teaching style where I leverage technology to help students sharpen their logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
The emphasis in my approach is not on blind memorisation, but building a strong foundation through critical thinking and exposure to real-world problems.

Application
Students acquire knowledge of each new topic at the macro level. Relevant mathematical apps are incorporated into lessons to supplement their understanding.
For each new concept, we will go through a worked example at the micro level. At this stage, step-by-step guidance is provided for students to gain familiarity and confidence.
After each worked example, students demonstrate understanding of that specific concept by attempting practice questions. When mistakes are made at this stage, any blindspots can be addressed immediately.

Strategy
Mastery of each topic is established only upon successful completion of a topical quiz with no prompting. Reinforcement of concepts will take place as necessary and students will be reassessed till a satisfactory standard is reached.
Modular quizzes expose students to a variety of questions across different topics. This stage is an important intermediary step in letting students strengthen their mental agility and stamina.
Students will sit for mock exams under simulated conditions to prepare for any major exams. At this stage, students are trained to manage their time efficiently and present their solutions as concisely as possible.
